Another $1,500 No Limit Holdem Sell Out at the 2009 WSOP

Yet another No Limit Holdem event has sold out here at the 2009 WSOP. (Bodog Beat Image)"]
It's getting more and more difficult to guage how many entrants there will be for the WSOP Main Event this year. The numbers for the big buy-in events have been down a bit, most notably the $50k HORSE that dropped over 50 players from last year when all was said and done. However, on the flip side, the low buy-in no limit holdem events have been drawing in huge crowds and, much like the $1,500 No Limit Holdem event that kicked off today, have sold out.
There have been two such tournaments - $1,500 No Limit Holdem - over the past three days, and they both filled to capacity at 2,790, causing WSOP Commissioner Jeffrey Pollack to apologize via Twitter (@jeffreypollack) to those who were shut out and promise to look into the pros and cons of having events that fill up.
So where does that leave us? Obviously, the Main Event is only a $10,000 buy-in, so a fifth of the buy-in of the $50k HORSE. However, it is also more than six and a half times the buy-in of these low buy-in donkaments. As it seems to lie in a prognosticatorial grey area .... yeh, we've got no idea what to expect. Most people seem to think roughly the same as last year with maybe a slight increase. Either way, we'll just have to wait and see.
