Barry Greenstein Among Leaders in WSOP HORSE Event

We know there's other events going on right now but there is a dearth of interesting things happening in those events. So, we're gonna keep you up to date on what is interesting, the $50,000 HORSE event.

The headline for this post obviously would have read a lot better if Barry Greenstein were actually the leader, but after playing second fiddle to Lyle Berman pretty much all day long, Greenstein is still in second just behind someone different now, Michael DeMichele. We have no idea who that is, hence the use of Greenstein for the headline.

Behind Greenstein is a litany of well-known names though. With only 24 players left standing, the relative talent level of this field has gone from ridiculous to ludicrous. Daniel Negreanu, Scotty Nguyen, Doyle Brunson, Erick Lindgren and Phil Ivey are the biggest of big names still in this event. They are all seated around three tables and once they can shrink down to just one table, or 16 players, they will all be in the money and shooting for the $2 million first-place prize. Barring anything untoward we will most likely play down today until we have a final table, which could make for a late night/early morning.

Stay tuned to the Beat for live updates from the 2008 WSOP as we head for that goal.
