News Flash: According to the European Poker Tour, The Bahamas are now part of Europe. That is all.
The newest addition to the European Poker Tour, and apparently Europe itself, got underway over the weekend at the Atlantis Casino and Resort in Nassau. The EPT Caribbean Adventure drew a record-setting 1,136 entrants over two starting day flights. Even with the preliminary events of the WPT World Poker Open and the Aussie Millions going on as we speak, the event still drew a generous share of big name poker pros all winning to cough up the $8,000 to buy in.
Many of those players survived the Day 1 carnage and will be coming back to the tables today, including Barry Greenstein, David "The Dragon" Pham, Daniel Negreanu, Hevad "RainKhan" Khan, Humberto Brenes, Noah Boeken, Chris Moneymaker, EPT Baden winner Julian Thew, Thor Hansen, Victor Ramdin, John Phan, Isabelle Mercier, Bill Edler, Chad "lilholdem" Batista, Bertrand "elKy" Grospellier and Bodog poker pro Josh Arieh, who will start the day in the top 25.
Former WSOP Main Event champs Greg Raymer and Joe Hachem were also in the field but wrecked their proverbial poker ships on the reefs of the Atlantis poker room, AKA the Grand Ballroom. There are 478 players still in the running for the impressive $2 million first-place prize but still a long way to go.
Make sure to come back to the Beat for more updates on the action from the Atlantis Casino in the beautiful Bahamas. Just remember, the EPT Carribbean Adventure was one of the events available under Bodog's $12,000 "Player's Choice" package. If you're not there, you only have yourself to blame.
