When the final table was decided in the $2,000 Pot Limit Holdem event there must have been about eight pretty nervous guys. Daniel Negreanu was the only one who’d ever been to a WSOP final table, not to mention the fact that he had won three of them.
But Negreanu has had a tough time finishing off final tables in the last couple years so as is always the case with poker, it wasn’t over till the fat lady and/or skinny vegan, sings. And the skinny vegan did in fact sing.
After mopping up most of the table he went on to win every single hand of heads-up play against Ugur Marangoz, the Mirage’s poker room manager.
Negreanu won $204,874, his fourth bracelet and possibly more for his victory. The turkeys over at Wicked Chops Poker are reporting rumors that this win might have also netted him $200,000 due to a WSOP side bet he had going with Phil Ivey and Ted Forrest.
You can expect to see plenty more of Negreanu in the near future. Not just because he seems to be running hot at the WSOP but also because he has a small role in the upcoming X-Men sequel, X-Men Origins: Wolverine in which he apparently plays poker against Hugh Jackman.
There's still time to get your chance to square off against the world's best like Negreanu at the WSOP Main Event. Check out Bodog's WSOP online satellites to find out more.
