The European Poker Tour took their traveling circus across Eastern Europe a few days ago, from Hungary and the EPT Budapest to Poland, for the EPT Warsaw and drew out 217 players to the big top known as the Casino Poland Warsawza to participate in the event. Among the entrants were several well known players and one of them, poker pro Dario Minieri, is the chip leader going into the final table.
The diminutive Italian has been on fire during this tournament and has hung around the top of the leader board the entire tournament bulldozing players on his way to the chip lead going into the final table. It was no easy road either as the field was littered with well-known players including poker pros Sorel "imper1um" Mizzi, Isabell Mercier, Katja Thater, Roland de Wolfe and Bertrand "elKy" Grospellier.
Even though he is the chip leader, Minieri only has a slim lead over the equally on-fire Sergey Shcherbatskiy, who at one point was light years ahead of the field but has been reined back in a bit. These two will be the odds on favorites to take down the €367,000 ($463,850) first-place prize when play resumes again at 2pm local Warsaw time tomorrow.
Here are the full chip counts for the players at the final table:
1. Dario Minieri - 359,500
2. Sergey Shcherbatskiy - 349,000
3. Nico Behling - 343,500
4. Ludovic Lacay - 296,500
5. Arnaud Mattern - 238,000
6. Joao Barbosa - 123,000
7. Andrea Benelli - 100,000
8. Michael Muheim - 89,000
9. Atanas Gueorguiev - 186,500
