David \"The Dragon\" Pham Is Poker Player of the Year

David "The Dragon" Pham has done it again – he’s won Card Player’s Poker Player of the Year Award. While it’s not official yet there is no chance of the Dragon being overtaken since he won the No Limit Holdem event at the Five Diamond World Poker Classic and the more than $279,000 in prize money that came with it.

Pham is a two-time POY winner, having won the title in 2000. He joins an exclusive with T.J. Cloutier and Men Nguyen, the only other poker players to have won more than once with two and four wins respectively.

The Dragon took the lead in August and never relinquished it.

Barry Shulman, Card Player Media COO, stated, “The POY point system is based on poker tournament finishes throughout the year and is a benchmark used throughout the poker industry to measure accomplishments on the felt. We at Card Player Media would like to congratulate David Pham for his exceptional accomplishment.”

Pham’s road to poker history victory included 18 in the money finishes, 11 final tables and four events won. He won more than $1.8 million in 2007.
