Day 2 of the $4,900 buy-in championship event just got underway at Caesars Atlantic City with Hevad “Rain” Khan holding the second most chips. Khan is well known for not only making the final table of last year’s WSOP Main Event but for acting like a maniac on his way to the top. The Beat fondly recalls watching Khan win a large pot and then putting his chair on his head and asking his table if they liked his new hat.

The above image was taken immediately after he took down a big pot at the WSOP and got up to his usual antics.

Leading Khan by a nose hair is Dan Hicks from Florida. Hicks has had a few decent cashes in the past, most notably was his fourth place finish in 2006 at the WSOP NL Holdem Short-Handed prelim event for $107,226.

The field of 277 entries created a $1,357,300 prize pool making it the biggest turnout of all WSOP Circuit events so far in the 2007 -2008 schedule. Of the original field all but 73 were eliminated on Day 1.

With big fields like this you just know this year’s WSOP is going to be huge. Bodog is guaranteeing four seats every week this month. Check it out and qualify for the World Series of Poker today.
