As we predicted yesterday with our incredibly precise formulaic calculation of the prizepool for the EPT Copenhagen, the event has indeed set a record as the largest payout for a Scandinavian poker tournament. The top-40 places will divvy up $4.1 million with the winner walking away with a very nice $1.2 million.

Early this morning, when the last blind level of Day 1A finished, 82 of the 230 starting players were left standing, including quite a few local players along with noted international players Alex Kravchenko, Bill Chen, Thor Hansen, Noah Boeken and Team Bodog's Joe "Dyzalot" Morneau.

Since logic is a funny animal at times and there were 460 total entrants, 230 players also sat down today at Casino Copenhagen for Day 1B. Spotted out at the tables were Irish poker pro Andy Black, Luca Pagano, Lithuanian/Australian Tony G, WSOP bracelet winner Katja Thater and EPT Dortmund champ Michael "Timex" McDonald.

Spotted heading to the rail already today were Irish poker pro Andy Black, Luca Pagano, Lithuanian/Australian Tony G and WSOP bracelet winner Katja Thater. We're pulling for you "Timex." Man, what is it with these people?

Play will continue through eight blind levels, however long that takes. Then the survivors from today will join those from yesterday for Day 2. Stay tuned to Beat and we'll bring you more updates.
