Well, it turns out that we should definitely trust PokerListings.com when it comes to event attendance numbers, as we knew deep down that we would have to in the end. Their number of 700 total entrants is much closer to the truth than the 500 cap listed by the EPT website. Day 1A of EPT San Remo drew 337 players and more are expected today, which will make the total very close to 700.

This high number of participants will make EPT San Remo the second-largest regular season EPT event in history (so, not including the Grand Final) and the largest actually in Europe. The biggest tournament award goes to the EPT Caribbean Adventure with 1,136 players, but it took place in, well, the Caribbean, so it doesn't count toward the European events on the European Poker Tour. If you understood that, congratulations you are the winnar.

Anyway, notable names among the 99 players making it out of Day 1A include English poker pro Roland de Wolfe, Italian elf Dario Minieri, Mark Teltscher, 2007 WSOP Main Event final tablist Raymond Rahme, Liz Lieu and the Norwegian god of poker Thor Hansen.

Day 1B is already underway and there are several more big name players out in the field for today: Daniel Negreanu, Isabelle Mercier, Antonio Esfandiari and Marco Traniello. Unofficial estimates from the know-it-all website put today's attendance at about 350. Keep it here and we'll keep you updated on this record-setting poker tournament.

If you want a chance to win millions at a world-class poker tournament, there are still many, many chances to qualify online for the 2008 WSOP in the Bodog Poker room with four packages available every week in April, then five per week in May and June.
