The last stop on the European Poker Tour before the Grand Final in Monaco, the EPT San Remo kicked off just a moment ago and will once again draw the best of the European poker world.
Most likely thanks to the beautiful location of Casino San Remo on the Riviera in eastern Italy, the event has completely sold out. Unfortunately, we don't know what that number actually is. According to EuropeanPokerTour.com, the cap was set at 500 players. However, PokerListings.com shows that there are 700 entrants. What to do, what to do? One's the official website and the other is always right.
Maybe we should head over there ourselves to investigate? No? Ok, then. We'll just remain confused.
What we do know is that there are several pros who have already been spotted the 250/350 Day 1A participants, including Patrik Antonius, Team Bodog poker player Magnus Petersson and Liz Lieu. That list will continue to expand as we get updates from the tournament floor, so stay tuned for more details.
The prize pool will either be about $3.9 million or $5.5 million depending on the actual turnout, which will make for a handsome first-place prize. However, we've still got a Day 1B and two more days of poker after that until we start thinking about awarding that cash.
If you want a chance to win millions at a world-class poker tournament, the biggest one of them all is now just about two months away. The 2008 WSOP kicks off on Friday, May 30, with the $10,000 World Championship Pot Limit Holdem event and will end 51 events later with the 2008 WSOP Main Event. There are still many, many chances to qualify online for the 2008 WSOP in the Bodog Poker room with four packages available every week in April, then five per week in May and June.
