How many Day 1 flights does it take to start a Polish Open? The answer, of course, is two, and not something like one to hold the lightbulb and 99 to turn the house.
Anyway, Day 1B is underway at the EPT Polish Open and the field is pretty stacked with all Europe-y type players, those who are "required" to appear and younguns who can't play in the U.S., including Andy Black, Luca Pagano, Thomas Wahlroos, Sorel "imper1um" Mizzi, Liz Lieu, Johnny Lodden, Mark Teltscher and former WSOP champion Greg Raymer.
As the players head into a dinner break, Black is the current chip leader with about 140 players left out of the starting total of 168. This is a smaller number than showed up for Day 1A, as we predicted. Or, you know, the complete opposite of what we said would happen. That makes for a two day total of 359, which is an increase over last year's attendance of 284, especially impressive because of the increased buy-in.
Prize pool and payouts have yet to be announced, but they should come in at about 652,251,333 zlotny, which equals like $5 or something. No idea why all these big names are playing for so little, but good luck to them. Winner also gets a seat in the EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo, which is worth a lot.
Second verse same as the first. Eight levels of blinds and they'll call it a day, then come back tomorrow to join hands and sing "Kumbaya" as one big happy field. Stay tuned for more updates from the Beat.
There are still plenty of opportunities to qualify online for an EPT event in the Bodog Poker room, so head over and check to see when your next chance is to win a $12,000 Bodog "Player's Choice" prize package.
