The European Poker Tour rolled into Prague over the weekend to get ready for the start of the €5,000 buy-in EPT Prague championship event today. While we'd like to say that there are a bunch of poker pros who are in attendance, there are really only a handful, if your hand had about three fingers. However, while the field isn't replete with a host of recognizable names, it is still quite sizable.
Day 1A at the Hilton Prague Hotel drew 241 official entrants and all indications are that it will draw just as many tomorrow, which could make the field the second-largest on the tour this year behind EPT Barcelona. The few big names who are in that field include WSOP bracelet winner Katja Thater, Nicholas Levi and EPT Baden winner Julian Thew. Rumored to be in the field for tomorrow are the Italian imp and he-of-the-scarf Dario Minieri, Shaun Deeb and online poker pro Bertrand "eLKy" Grospellier.
As we speak, the chip leader is Eric Turner and there are 174 players still remaining. Play will continue through eight blind levels and the remaining players will join those from Day 1B, which is tomorrow, on Wednesday for Day 2.
Pretty much all of the EPT events are available as part of the Bodog "Player's Choice" package, which rewards one winner a week with a $12,000 prize package to play in a major international tournament. Head over to the Bodog Poker room and check out the poker tournament schedule to see when the next qualifier is for your chance to play for this opportunity of a lifetime.
