Jason Potter Leads WPT Foxwoods World Poker Finals After Day 1A

Poker pro David 'The Dragon' Pham is lurking just behind Jason Potter in the top ten after Day 1A of the WPT Foxwoods World Poker Finals. (Bodog Beat Image)"]
Day 1A of the WPT Foxwoods World Poker Finals kicked off yesterday and drew a disappointingly low number of entrants at 162. Although most likely die to the election excitement of the week and the ucoming 2008 WSOP Final Table in Vegas this weekend, Day 1B will have to pull in a ridiculous number of players if the event is to reach the 575 that turned out last year.
However, despite the relatively low numbers we do have some big names among the 99 who survived Day 1A. In the top ten alone we have Aussie Millions mugging victim Jason Potter, Kevin Saul, Johnathan Little, Will Failla, and David Pham. Moving a little further down the chip counts we have Erik Seidel, Chad Brown, Svetlana Gromenkova, Vanessa Rousso and Josh Arieh.
Here are the full chips counts for the top ten:
1. Jason "JPOSU" Potter - 183,825
2. Vadim Trincher - 163,600
3. Steve Gross - 145,025
4. Jonathan Jaffe - 141,000
5. Kevin "BelowAbove" Saul - 135,350
6. Jonathan "FieryJustice" Little - 131,400
7. Will "The Thrill" Failla - 124,800
8. Daniel Grubbs - 116,850
9. Bill Parker - 113,100
10. David "The Dragon" Pham - 109,200
Day 1B will get underway in about two hours, or Noon ET, and while last year's numbers seem out of reach the WPT website seems to think that the 400 mark is easily reachable. So, we'll just have to see. Stay tuned for more updates from the WPT Foxwoods World Poker Finals, aka the second-longest name on tour behind the WPT Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic.
