The players are just now returning from their dinner break during the first open event of the 2009 WSOP, the $40,000 buy-in 40th Anniversary Special event. When they sit finally all get seated and resume play they will be chasing Bodog poker pro Justin Bonomo, who is currently the chip leader with 470,000 in chips.

Bonomo has had no easy seat draws throughout the day, sharing the felt with noted poker pros like Annie Duke (pictured above), Tony G and the player who is just a hair behind him on the leaderboard Antonio "The Magician" Esfandiari. At different tables, but lurking closely are Mark Seif and Chris Moneymaker (wait, what? who is that again? oh, right, yeah).

There are currently 150 players remaining and the mostr attention is being turned to todays "Table of Death," which includes Phil Ivey, Scotty Nguyen, David "The Dragon" Pham and Phil Hellmuth, who seems to be getting under Scotty's skin quite a bit at the moment.

We'll keep you posted on the action from the 2009 WSOP as the night drags on and continually throughout the next... seven weeks? Really? Feels like it's already been like four weeks already... you sure about that number? Huh, well, ok then.

Stay tuned.
