Team Bodog did not wait long to make their mark on the 2009 WSOP. Bodog poker pro Justin Bonomo has so far bested 191 of his fellow poker players, some of the best in the world, to reach the final table of the $40,000 buy-in 40th Anniversary Special event.
After holding the chip lead for most of the afternoon and trading blows with Lex “RaSZI” Veldhuis, Bonomo enters the final table fifth in chips up against the likes of 2005 WSOP Main Event champion Greg Raymer, the newly shorn Isaac Haxton at his third WSOP final table, five-time WSOP bracelet winner Ted Forrest and last year's WSOP Heads-Up World Championship runner-up Alec Torelli.
Here are the final table chip counts:
1. Isaac Haxton - 5,955,000
2. Vitaly Lunkin - 4,565,000
3. Lex Veldhuis - 3,805,000
4. Greg Raymer - 3,345,000
5. Alec Torelli - 2,340,000
6. Justin Bonomo - 1,685,000
7. Dani Stern - 1,300,000
8. Noah Schwartz - 660,000
9. Ted Forrest - 560,000
Fellow Team Bodog member Evelyn Ng will be on hand at the final table to cheer on Bonomo. However, she will have a little bit of a conflict of interest as her boyfriend, Veldhuis, has been Bonomo arch-nemesis for most of the last couple of days of the tournament.
The final table gets underway at 2pm ET and the ESPN cameras will be rolling, so stay tuned for updates from this first big final table at the 2009 WSOP.
