Organizers knew the first event of the L.A. Poker Classic would be big, but not this big. An amazing 5,847 entrants paid the $335 to play for their share of the $1,683,936 prize pool. It has become one of the largest live poker tournaments in a casino ever, and action has been fast and furious over the last couple of days. The Commerce Casino didn’t have to add on an overlay in the $1M guaranteed with a field that big, and poker rooms were to capacity with amateurs hoping to land a big payday.

The winner of the tournament will take home a $363,936 paycheck and the pride of beating one of the biggest playing fields in organized poker tournament history. Second place will get $189,480; while third will receive $107,970. More updates will follow throughout the month until the $10K Main Event and $25K High Roller events play out in early March.
