Three days of poker are done at the 2007 WPT North American Poker Championship and the 232 remaining players will congregate in the poker room of the Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort today to begin Day 2 play. Days 1A, 1B and 1C all saw their fair share of action as many big name pros came out to play. Barry Greenstein, Peter Feldman, Gavin Smith, Kathy Liebert, Dan Shak, Shane "Shaniac" Schleger, Jeff Madsen, Bill Edler, Gus Hansen, Allen Cunningham, JC Tran, Dan Harrington, Victor Ramdin and, most importantly, Bodog poker pro Evelyn Ng have all made it through to this round of competition.

Current chip leader, poker pro Jean-Robert Bellande, is the only player to have emerged from the fray with more than 200k in chips and sits about 40k above second-place Johnathan Little and just under 70k over Dario D'Agostino in third place. The Survivor: China cast member surged to chip lead early in the day and did not display many chinks in his luckbox. Of course, as the show is still ongoing and Bellande is under a non-disclosure contract with CBS, we have no idea how he fares on the show. But if this string of luck is a continuation of a streak that started in China, then we may have to go take a gander at the Survivor: China odds in the Bodog Sportsbook and place a little wager.

Anyway, the final total of 504 entrants is up just very slightly from last year's 497 meaning that the winner will take home just a bit more than the $1,380,378 CAD ($ 1,225,920 USD) that last year's champion, Soren Turkewitsch, took home. As an interesting sidenote, this will be the first time that the payout will be larger in CAD than in USD.

Players have been at it now for a couple of hours now and will continue for probably another 10 depending on when tournament officials decide to call it a day. CardPlayer.com has live updates and chip counts, so you can head over there to follow all the poker action.
