The WPT Foxwoods Poker Classic started out with a small field stacked with big name talent and has now narrowed down to an even smaller field with relatively few recognizeable poker players. However, one face that is definitely familiar in the Foxwoods poker room is Raj Patel, defending champion of this event, and currently sitting in second place with only 33 players left.

Patel is trailing chip leader Allen Bari by a very small margin and both lead a field that includes poker pros Erik Seidel, Paul Darden and Ted Forrest. All remaining players will be taking home at least $22,610 as the money bubble burst yesterday when Svetlana Grumenkova became the unfortunate "bubble girl." The first-place prize these players are chasing is just shy of the $1 million mark thanks to the smaller turnout for this year's event - there were 415 last year and 436 the year before.

According to World PokerTour.com, the schedule for today's play is still kind of up in the air. They will either play down to the final 18 or down to the ten who will make up the "final" table, depending on how fast the action is. All of it gets underway in about 30 mins, so make sure to head over to the WPT website for live updates and come back to the Beat for a daily wrap-up.
