Ted Moustakis of New Jersey, a Star Trek fan who may or may not live in his parent's basement, recently paid $6000 for the poker visor worn by the android Data in the above Star Trek: The Next Generation clip. He is now suing the vendor, Christie’s, claiming the visor is a fake.
Moustakis was tipped off by the actor who played Data, Brent Spiner, when he visited a Star Trek convention to get Spiner to autograph the visor.
According to Moustakis, when he "approached, saw the visor, and he said, ‘That’s not my visor. You bought that at Christie’s’.”
Moustakis paid $200 for the photograph and signature and is now suing Christie's for a reasonable amount - $7 million.
