Team Bodog looks to be continuing its assault on 2008 with Team Bodog poker players David Williams, Josh Arieh, Jose "head2782" Severino, Smith "nevertilt22" Collins and Ari "BodogAri" Engel all making it through to Day 2 of the WPT Borgata Poker Classic.

Day 1 started with 507 players all forking over the $9,700 buy-in and would end seven levels of poker and 190 eliminations later with the 317 players who would go onto play in Day 2. Among the starting players were all of poker's elite including TJ Cloutier, Tom "durrrr" Dwan, Barry Greenstein, Phil Ivey, Erick Lindgren, Mark Seif, Ted Lawson and Bill Edler. Unfortunately, not one of them would end up getting through the day.

Now, before you go thinking that this is yet another disappointing tournament this year, filled with no name players who either got lucky or played the game of their life, think again. The field at this tournament was so deep with big-name talent that there are still plenty of notable players left standing, among which are the red-and-black clad Bodog players we mentioned before.

Just in the top five after Day 1 you have John "Razor" Phan, Joe Sebok, Justin "zeejustin" Bonomo and Vanessa Rousso, in that order.

A little bit further down the leaderboard you'll find JC Tran, Victor Ramdin, Layne Flack, Freddy Deeb, Mike Matusow, Men "The Master" Nguyen, John Juanda, Erik Seidel and a whole host of others.

You can find a semi-complete listing over at CardPlayer.com. All of the entrants combined to generate a prizepool that will pay out just over $1.4 million to first place with the top 54 players receiving at least $14,754.

Play is already underway for Day 2 but there's still a long way to go 'til that money bubble bursts. So, head over to CardPlayer.com and PokerListings.com for live updates and come back here for a Day 2 wrap-up and coverage of Team Bodog at the WPT Borgata Poker Classic.
