As most people who would be reading blogs like this are aware, Apple released the iPhone 3G in the US a couple of days ago and at the same time released the iPhone 2.0 software and a new version of iTunes to support the added functionality offered by the new software. If you've been living in a cave, how did you get online to read this?

One of the major features that was added was the intorduction of official third-party apps onto the iPhone and the App Store on iTunes. Within the App Store is a listing of all of the "Top Paid Apps" and "Top Free Apps," and the Texas Holdem app, developed by Apple itself, is the one of the most popular, exceeded only by Super Monkey Ball. Monkeys and cards, the two great loves of gamers everywhere.

According to the App Store, the game can be played from the traditional online poker view, top down, or the iPhone can be rotated to feature a heads-up view. Players can make all the obvious poker moves like betting and bluffing, but there are also seceret tells buitl into the game and players will also be able to play against the game itself or against up to eight other opponents via Wi-Fi. High-stakes rooms can be opened up by mastering certain skills.

Needless to say, it just goes to show that poker is still as popular as ever. Or, as our favorite poker blog would say, "proof that poker is a fad... and has been since 1829."
