The Ladies Poker Camp That Produced a WSOP Champ Returns in 2008

Sally Boyer captured the 2007 WSOP Ladies World Championship the day after finishing the WSOP Academy Ladies Only Event at Caesar's Palace.
Imagine if you ran an instructional poker camp and you could say that attending your courses leads directly to winning a WSOP bracelet. Well, that is exactly what the WSOP Academy can claim because Utahan Sally Boyer did precisely that.
The night the WSOP Academy's Ladies Only Event ended this past summer, Boyer went home and studied her coursework intently. The next day she got up, went over to the Rio Hotel & Casino and proceeded to win the 2007 WSOP Ladies No Limit Hold'em World Championship, outlasting a field of 1,286 competitors and banking $262,077 in the process.
“The WSOP Academy gave me the confidence I needed at the table and taught me key concepts that I was able to put into action right away in the tournament, like pot odds, table demeanor and what to look for when reading someone," said Boyer.
Teaching her those skills were poker pro Annie Duke, poker tells expert Joe Navarro and noted poker instructor Alex Outhred. These same instructors will be on hand next year for the WSOP Academy Ladies Only Event, which is slated to take place at Caesar's Palace from Jan. 25 - 26.
With Boyer and Katja Thater both taking down bracelets this past summer at the WSOP and online poker gun Annette "Annette_15" Obrestad winning the inaugural WSOP Europe, women are becoming more and more prominent in poker, and this camp could help propel a lot more to the top.
