As we have posted about before, the saga that is Vinny Vinh at the 2007 WSOP has caused a lot of concern amongst friends and family and drawn a lot of media attention. Today, during Day 2B of the 2007 World Series of Poker, the whole sordid affair finally came to an end.
After not returning from the dinner break on Day 1D, Vinny was blinded down to 3,200 in chips to start off the day today. With the blinds starting at 500/1000 with 100 antes, it wasn't going to be long before he was forced into a decision, if he showed up. He did in fact show up and the inevitable decision came just two hands into play.
Vinny pushed all-in with 5-9 offsuit and was called by K-8 offsuit. The flop was 8h-5d-Qd giving each a pair. The turn was 9s giving Vinh two-pair and the lead, right up until the Ks hit to send him home. Thus ended the most disturbing storyline of the 2007 WSOP.
Of course, he had good reason to end it as he did. According to ThePokerBiz.com, Vinny claimed that some Vietnamese guys would kill him if he won, but that next year he's cool, so he'll win then.
