With Facebook growing at an exponential rate and interactive games becoming more and more popular on the social networking site (like Mafia Wars and whatever version of Scrabble is out this week), the WSOP and Zynga have teamed up to give users of the popular free Texas Hold'Em Poker game app a chance to win seats to the 2009 WSOP Main Event. Well, two seats to be exact.
The game boasts 12 million monthly users and will hold several "Shootout" tournaments and then 18 winners from those tournaments will be randomly selected to play in the Final Showdown on June 29-30. The WSOP prize package includes roundtrip airfare to Las Vegas, three nights’ accommodations at the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino, a backstage tour of the WSOP venue and a day pass to the VIP player’s lounge.
Now, that's all well and good, but what are the odds of being a winner of one of these tournaments out of 12 million monthly users? And then what are the odds of being one of the randomly selected 18 that get to go onto the Final Showdown with only two seats on offer?
Well, how about paying as little as $1 to win your way into a tournament that guarantees four WSOP prize packages no matter how many people enter and doesn't have the potential to have a field of millions, or even thousands, and where winning is about having poker skills not the luck of a random draw? That's exactly the opportunity you have with Bodog Poker's Main Event Semifinals. The next Semifinal takes place this Sunday, May 17, at 4:35pm ET and will again guarantee four $12,000 WSOP VIP Packages.
Winners of one of these packages will win the $10,000 buy-in to the 2009 WSOP Main Event plus $2,000 for travel to and accommodation in Las Vegas, a stylish Bodog gear bag worth $400+, and access to VIP events and player's club evenings. They will also be given the attention of a team of dedicated handlers to help them focus on just playing poker.
