The city welcomed The Answer back with open arms.

The basketball team? Not so much.

In what began as a love-in but quickly turned to a heated affair, the Philadelphia 76ers edged the Denver Nuggets in a thrilling 115-113 game that spoiled the first game back in Philly for Allen Iverson.

Iverson came into the contest a humble and reflective man. He admitted he'd made some mistakes during his time in Philadelphia and seemed excited - albeit a little sad - in his return.

"I had a big hand in me getting traded," AI told ESPN. "I always wanted to finish my career here in Philadelphia. The opportunity was there for me to do it. In a lot of ways, I made sure that didn't happen."

Iverson played the game with "THXPHILA" printed on his sneakers.

As for the game itself, Iverson put up 32 points but was outplayed by the man he was traded for - Andre Miller. The underrated PG had 28 points and 12 assists. Samuel Dalembert also had a big game for the 76ers with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Denver came into the contest as three-point road underdogs and barely covered with a two-point loss. The game also squeaked over the 223 point total posted in the Bodog Sportsbook.
