Dear god this was excruciating.

Colorado and San Diego played 22 innings of sleep-inducing baseball Thursday night before the Rockies pulled off the 2-1 win. There were 25 hits in the game but only three runs total.

Padres ace Jake Peavy pitched a shutout through nine innings and Rockies ace Jeff Francis pitched a shutout through seven innings. The Rockies weren't able to score until the top of the 14th, but the Padres tied it in the bottom of the inning. Both teams stayed at a 1-1 stalemate until the 22nd.

In the 22nd inning the Rockies finally got a break when the Padres, probably intentionally at this point, had two errors to put Willy Taveras on third base. Troy Tulowitzki then slapped a two-out double into center field to bring Taveras home for the permanent lead.

The game finished at 4:22 AM EST and was the longest game in 15 years.
