Before much of the world had even woken up, 20-year-old Ana Ivanovic defeated Dinara Safina for her first Grand Slam title in the French Open final on Saturday morning.

Ivanovic, who had started the tournament in the number two spot next to Maria Sherapova, defeated third-ranked Jelena Jankovic in the semifinals before earning the right to take on underdog Safina. Sealing the deal 6-4, 6-3, Ivanovic put an end to Safina's miracle run that included an upset over the aforementioned Sherapova in the fourth round of the tournament.

It was just her second appearance at the French Open, held annually in Paris, France, but Ivanovic looked like a seasoned vet pounding winners up both sides of the court.
