Well, this might be a first.
While we've seen MLB pitchers brawl with opposing players, bench bosses and fans, Houston Astros chucker Shawn Chacon took uncontrolled aggression to a new level on Wednesday. He went after his own GM.
Chacon, upset after being demoted to the bullpen over the weekend, told the Houston Chronicle the incident started when Astros GM Ed Wade approached him in the dining room and asked to meet with him. Chacon said he insisted that Wade speak to him there but that Wade responded by "yelling and cussing" and saying he needed "to look in the mirror."
"So at that point I lost my cool and I grabbed him by the neck and threw him to the ground. I jumped on top of him," Chacon told the newspaper.
At this time, we should point out that Ed Wade is 52 years old.
Chacon has been suspended indefinitely and many assume this could be the end of his play career. How will the Astros react to the base-brawl? Tonight, the Astros are up against the Texas Rangers with Wandy Rodriguez (-139) going to the hill for the 'Stros. The Rangers will counter with Kevin MIllwood (+129).
