\"Babalu\" Sobral vs. \"Tiger\" White at First WCO Event

UFC veteran Renato "Babalu" Sobral will fight Vernon "Tiger" White in the WCO event on Saturday, Jan. 12.
On Saturday, Jan. 12 at the San Diego Sports Arena, two former UFC fighters will meet when Renato “Babalu” Sobral (29-7) and Vernon "Tiger" White (25-32-2) fight in the main event of the first-ever World Cagefighting Organization.
Sobral was cut from the UFC roster following a controversial win over David Heath (7-2-0) that saw "Babalu" latch onto a choke hole and continue to squeeze despite the referee's instructions to stop. Since that match in August, Sobral has moved from one organization to another. Both the Brazilian fighter and "Tiger" White are most well known for spectacular losses to Chuck Liddell (21-5-0), who knocked out White in 2004, and handed Sobral KO losses in both 2002 and in 2006.
The show, curiously titled "The Return" considering this is their first event, also features octagon veterans Joe Riggs (27-9-0) , David "The Crow" Loiseau (15-7-0) and Mark Kerr (14-6-0). Kerr was originally scheduled to face kickboxing champion Rick Roufus in his MMA debut, but is now without an opponent as the California State Athletic Commission denied Roufus a license to fight, saying they did not have enough time to evaluate his skills.
Former UFC heavyweight champion Ricco Rodriguez (27-7-0) will fight Mike Kyle (9-5-1), whose name has become synonymous with foul play since he allegedly bit Wes Sims (19-11-1) during their UFC match in April of 2004.
