The Colorado Rockies will be looking to deal the +135 underdog San Diego Padres a ninth loss in their last 10 games as the clubs continue a four-game series at Petco Park tonight.
Colorado’s 27-9 record from June 4 through last weekend was the best in baseball over that span, and the Rockies moved within 1 1/2 games of San Francisco for the NL wild card lead with a 10-1 win over the Padres on Thursday.
After dropping eight of their last nine, the Padres are a major league-worst 11-28 since the beginning of June, with their anemic offense scoring one or zero runs 10 times over that span.
Josh Geer, who will start for the Padres, has only one victory in 16 appearances this season and that came May 23 against the Chicago Cubs.
Ubaldo Jimenez will counter for the Rockies as he seeks his first win since June 18.
