Baseball Lines: Tigers at Yankees

Most of the American League has one more day off before getting back at it. On Friday two of the better teams in the AL square off when the New York Yankees host the Detroit Tigers.

The Tigers went into the break on a 10-1 destruction of the Cleveland Indians. Brandon Inge and Clete Thomas combined for eight RBI, with Thomas falling a double short of the cycle.

Now the Tigers will face A.J. Burnett, who is 8-4 with a 3.77 ERA this season. Burnett has won three straight starts and has a career record of 3-1 against the Tigers.

New York will be looking for a better effort from Burnett than they got in their last game before the break. CC Sabathia allowed five runs in 6 1/3 innings Sunday in a loss to the Angels.

The Tigers will counter with scheduled starter Luke French, who is 1-0 this season.
