Entering this week of college football action Louisville had a 5-2 record in Big East play, with both West Virginia and Cincinnati at 4-3. The Cardinals are idle this week, while the Mountaineers play on the road against South Florida on Thursday night.
If the Bearcats manage to beat the Huskies on Saturday they'll at least claim a share of the Big East conference championship. In order to get the conference's automatic BCS bowl berth, however, Cincinnati needs to win on Saturday and West Virginia must lose Thursday.
That means that BCS berth might already be out of reach for the Bearcats (8-3 straight up, 6-5 against the spread) when they kick off with the Huskies (5-6 SU, 4-7 ATS) on Saturday afternoon.
Cincinnati kept their title hopes alive last weekend with a 30-13 win at Syracuse over the Orange. Munchie Legaux went 13 of 22 for 169 yards passing for the Bearcats in that win, with two touchdown passes and no interceptions.
Isaiah Pead ran for 80 yards and a score on 17 carries in that game, while catching nine balls for 112 yards and another touchdown. Travis Kelce also had a TD reception.
Connecticut is coming off a 40-22 win over Rutgers at home last time out, as Johnny McEntee completed 10 of 16 pass attempts for 90 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions. Lyle McCombs led the UConn attack with 95 rushing yards and two TDs.
The Huskies beat the Bearcats 38-17 as a 1.5-point favorite last season in an UNDER result. Overall Connecticut is 2-3 straight up and 4-1 against the spread in its last five games against Cincinnati.
As it stands, Cincinnati is a 10-point home favorite over UConn on the college football betting board.
