Bodog has begun rolling out prop options for this weekend’s Final Four in Indianapolis, and according to the site’s oddsmakers the least likely championship game matchup – at 7/2 -- is West Virginia vs. Michigan State, which makes perfect sense considering those two teams are underdogs in their national semifinal matchups.

Michigan State beating West Virginia in the national title game is the longest shot odds-wise at 11/1. I’m still surprised that the oddsmakers believe Butler is a slightly better shot than the Spartans, who have more Final Four experience than any of these teams put together.   Duke beating Butler on Monday night for the national title is the favorite on Bodog at 7/2.

Another prop option involves which will be the highest-scoring and lowest-scoring teams in the Final Four round. Duke is the 2/1 favorite to be the highest-scoring team, and the Blue Devils should be considering they rank No. 23 in the nation in scoring offense at 77.4 points per game. West Virginia is 84th at 72.8 per game, MSU is 93rd at 72.4 per game and Butler is way down at No. 157 in averaging 69.4 points per game. It’s the Spartans that are the 2/1 favorites to be the Final Four’s lowest-scoring team – remember, too, that Sparty is without leading scorer Kalin Lucas.

Another prop option on Bodog’s college basketball odds is whether a Final Four or national championship game will go to overtime. History says no, and that answer is a huge -450 favorite. The last national title game to go an extra session was Kansas over Memphis in 2008 -- before that it had been since 1997. And if you look back the past few years, the Final Four games haven’t really been close. The last time a national semifinal was even decided by five points or less was in 2004 when both semis were close: Georgia Tech 67, Oklahoma State 65 and UConn 79, Duke 78.

However, it sure seems that these Final Four teams are very evenly matched, and this year’s tournament has been filled with fantastic finishes. So taking the “yes” overtime option at +300 might be a good value bet.
