Boxing Odds: WBO Results

The Puerto Rican sensation is once again a welterweight champion, earning the WBO title Saturday with a fifth-round knockout of England’s Michael Jennings at Madison Square Garden. Cotto was a –1600 favorite over his lightly regarded opponent.

This is a small taste of redemption for Cotto after losing the WBA strap to Antonio Margarito last July. The relevance of that loss is up in the air now that Margarito has had his boxing license revoked for cheating. Cotto’s next bout will probably be against IBF champion Joshua Clottey.

The key match on the MSG undercard saw John Duddy (-850) earn a unanimous decision over Matt Vanda in middleweight action. Duddy showed some heretofore-unseen boxing skills that could earn him a contract with Top Rank and a title shot against Kelly Pavilk, the WBC/WBO champion and the No. 1 middleweight according to The Ring.
