Brock Lesnar Earns 650,000 PPV Buys for UFC 81

Brock Lesnar was the feature attraction at UFC 81: Breaking Point.
Despite losing in just 90 seconds to Frank Mir (11-3), in his UFC debut, former WWE wrestler Brock Lesnar (1-1) turned UFC 81: Breaking Point into a winner.
According to The Wrestling Observer, Lesnar's first fight in the octagon brought in approximately 650,000 pay-per-view "buys", making it the third-most successful UFC in octagon history. Only UFC 66: Liddell vs. Ortiz II in December 2006 and UFC 61: Bitter Rivals in July 2006 sold better.
UFC 81: Breaking Point took place Saturday, Feb. 2 in Las Vegas, Nev. The event was headlined by an interim title fight between Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (31-4-1) and Tim Sylvia (24-4-0), where Nogueira beat Sylvia by choke in the third round.
Lesnar came out strong against Mir and appeared to be winning the fight until a kneebar submission forced him to tap out early in the first round. Lesnar was the highest-paid fighter of the event and earned $250,000 for his fight, not including unreported bonuses. Nogueira earned $200,000 by defeating Sylvia, who received $100,000.
