Tampa has already had more parties and great live concerts in the last week than some places do all year. Acts like Fall Out Boy and Rihanna have got Super Bowl fans whipped into a frenzy but it’s all just a prelude to Bruce Springsteen’s Super Bowl half time show.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band have remained tight-lipped about their Super Bowl set, saying only that it will be “a 12-minute party.”

Springsteen just came off of another ultra-high profile gig, Barack Obama’s presidential inauguration. Springsteen spoke to reporters yesterday and in reference to the Obama inauguration speech said, “It was a good warm up. You’ll have a lot of crazy football fans, but you won’t have Lincoln staring over your shoulder.”

The Springsteen half time show will be watched by almost 100 million viewers. A fact that he and the band are keenly aware of. When asked by reporters why he choose to play the 2009 Super Bowl when the NFL had been trying to get him to play it for years he said, “We have our mercenary reasons,” in reference to their new album, Working on a Dream, which was released just last Tuesday.

While it’s probably a safe bet that Bruce Springsteen’s half time show will be well received, betting on the Super Bowl might be a bit trickier. Who do you like: The underdog Cardinals, or the defensive juggernaut that is the Steelers? Whichever it is you can bet on the 2009 Super Bowl in the Bodog Sportsbook.
