Butch Harmon Fires John Daly Over Jon Gruden Caddying

John Daly has been fired by his coach Butch Harmon. In most cases, that would be like the gardener firing the rich guy, but nothing is normal when it comes to John Daly.

Harmon made the move with some scathing remarks for the oft-troubled golfer's drinking while also criticizing Daly's decision to have Tampa Bay Buccanneers coach Jon Gruden caddy for him during the PODS Championship.

"My whole goal for him was he's got to show me golf is the most important thing in his life," Harmon told the Associated Press. "And the most important thing in his life is getting drunk."

"Jon Gruden caddying, I thought was ridiculous. I thought he made a circus out of the whole event."

Harmon worked with Daly three times this year, according to the swing coach.

"He would work hard and get better, but when things don't go right, it's back to the alcohol stuff," Harmon said. "I love this kid. He's a tremendous talent. But if he's not going to give 100 percent effort, it's a waste of my time."
