Last year, the Oregon Ducks reached the NCAA Tournament on the strength of a superior backcourt. This season, it’s their frontcourt that’s doing the damage.

On Tuesday night, the 16th-ranked Ducks got solid contributions from forwards Maarty Leunen and Joevan Catron en route to a dominating 93-66 victory over Sacramento State.

The Ducks were heavy favorites against the point spread, which was 31.

Leunen led all scorers with 23 points and grabbed 11 boards. Catron added 20 points and eight rebounds in the victory at Eugene, Ore.

In other Top 25 action on Tuesday:

Southern Illinois 71, No. 24 St. Mary’s 56: It took the Gaels 18 years to return to the top 25 and their stay figures to last only one week after the lost in Carbondale, Ill. Bryan Mullins’ 24 points led Southern Illinois. Bettors and oddsmakers clearly didn’t believe in the Gaels (7-1), because they were four-point underdogs.
