North Carolina and Wake Forest bettors weren’t switching over to the Oscars. Not until their teams were done playing, anyway. With the point spread favoring the Tar Heels by 15.5, garbage time still counted for college basketball fans. No. 3 North Carolina was winning going away but the Demon Deacons were beating the spread until Marcus Ginyard hit two free throws with 1:15 to play.

Those were the final points of the game as the Tar Heels won 89-73 to remain atop the ACC and earn the cover for their backers. Tyler Hansbrough had 29 points and Wayne Ellington added 17 for Carolina.

James Johnson
had 22 points and eight rebounds for the Deacons.
