College Basketball Betting: Tar Heels Remain No. 1 While Hoosiers, Gaels Move Up

Maybe we’re going to have to wait until March for the big upsets in college hoops.
Unlike the NCAA football rankings, the AP Top 25 basketball poll has seen only minor movement since the season opened six weeks ago. The North Carolina Tar Heels (8-0) remain No. 1 in this week’s poll, which was released Monday, and the top 10 didn’t see one new entrant.
North Carolina is also the favorite to win it all, with March Madness odds of 5/1. Arch-rival Duke, which started the season with NCAA championship odds of 15/1, is down to 9/1. The Blue Devils (9-0) remain at No. 6 in the polls.
One of the teams to watch is Indiana, which moved up two spots to No. 13. The Hoosiers have an explosive tandem in D.J. White and freshman sensation Eric Gordon.
The only team that entered the top 25 was St. Mary’s (7-0), which comes in at 24. The Gaels own the nation’s top RPI rating. It’s the school’s first appearance in the top 25 in 18 years.
With a light schedule this week, there isn’t much chance of significant changes either. The Tar Heels don’t play again until Sunday, when they take on unranked Rutgers.
