College Basketball Betting: Virginia at North Carolina

Right now, the Heels probably wouldn't make the NCAA Tournament field.
So have the North Carolina Tar Heels figured things out? The Heels were on their first three-game skid under Roy Williams but turned things around for one night by winning at N.C. State on Tuesday. UNC hasn’t won two in a row this decade – granted, it’s only 31 days old – but can do so by beating Virginia on Sunday, and North Carolina is a solid favorite on Bodog’s college basketball odds.
Virginia (12-6, 7-6 ATS) was an early surprise leader in the ACC but has since dropped two games in a row and probably will continue to sink to the bottom of the conference. The Cavs only have one road win in four tries this season (2-2 ATS) and that came at N.C. State, the same team that just allowed North Carolina’s first road win. The Cavaliers have one very good player in Sylven Landesberg, who is the only player in the ACC to score in double figures in every game this season and the only one to score at least 18 points in each of his ACC games, and one solid one in Mike Scott (13.3 ppg) – but not much else.
Of course the Tar Heels (13-7, 7-11 ATS) are loaded with young former high school All-Americans. Only one of them, sophomore forward Ed Davis (14.5 ppg, 9.7 rpg) has been consistent. Senior Deon Thompson has been the Heels’ best player, having scored in double digits in every game but two this season and leading the team in points (15.1 ppg). Really the Heels go as up-and-down point guard Larry Drew II goes: UNC is 3-6 when he shoots under 50 percent from the field and has yet to lose when he scores at least 10 points.
When making your college basketball bet on this game, know that Virginia is rarely a match for UNC in Chapel Hill. The Heels are 63-5 against Virginia all-time there, including 21-2 in the Smith Center (last loss in 2002). Overall, UNC has won six in a row in the series.
