Maryland isn’t getting much run as a viable ACC contender this season, but they opened conference play with a very impressive 77-68 win over then-No. 19 Florida State on Sunday night, ending the Seminoles’ seven-game winning streak. But the Terrapins, playing against just 50 hours later, are 4.5-point underdogs on Bodog’s college basketball odds for tonight’s game at Wake Forest.

The Demon Deacons (11-3, 6-5 ATS) should have an advantage in terms of more rest as they last played Saturday, but that was a one-point loss at Miami. Wake has won four in a row at home, including the last game in Winston-Salem, 96-92 in double overtime over a good Xavier team. The Deacons are led by forward Al-Farouq Aminu, who averages 16.8 points and 11.6 rebounds per game. They have four players 6-9 or taller in their rotation and thus are a very good rebounding team (plus-7.6 margin, best in the ACC).

Maryland (10-4, 4-6 ATS) doesn’t have much size and really doesn’t use a true center. The Terps are led by senior guard Greivis Vasquez, who leads the team in points (17.6) and assists (6.1). He has scored at least 20 points in six straight games (averaging 24.2 ppg in that stretch), the longest such streak for a Terrapin since the 1991-92 season.

These teams split two meetings last year, with Wake winning at Maryland and then the Terps returning the favor in the ACC Tournament. Overall, Maryland has won four of the past five meetings. But when making your college basketball bet at Bodog on this one, know that Wake Forest leads the country in three-point field goal percentage defense. A big reason Maryland upset Florida State was it hit 10-for-16 from long distance – that won’t happen again. Plus this is almost a must win for Wake with games at Duke and North Carolina up next.
