John Calipari’s recruiting acumen is undeniable. His Memphis Tigers (24-3 SU, 17-9 ATS) have been a national power for most of the past decade since Calipari’s arrival in 2000. But they’re making big money this year for handicappers because of lowered expectations after All-Americans Derrick Rose and Chris Douglas-Roberts were drafted into the NBA. The nationwide emphasis on recruiting one-and-done players like Tyreke Evans just makes Calipari that much more valuable.

UAB (19-8 SU, 12-14 ATS) is one of the very few teams in Conference USA that can give the Tigers a run for their money. Mike Davis got the Blazers into the NIT last year and has a good shot at a March Madness invitation with a No. 39 RPI. Getting paid against the Tigers on Thursday night is another matter. Memphis is 6-0 SU and 5-1 ATS over the past three years.
