College Football Odds: No. 10 TCU at Air Force

If you look at No. 10 Texas Christian's remaining schedule, there might be two, perhaps three, games that could prevent the Horned Frogs from going unbeaten and possibly crashing a BCS bowl for the first time. One of those games could (I repeat, could) be this weekend at Mountain West leader Air Force.
Certainly AFA's spot atop the MWC is a bit misleading, considering the Falcons have beaten bad teams in New Mexico and San Diego State; this will be TCU's first conference game, and the Frogs are -10 on Bodog's college football odds (about 75 percent of the public is wagering on TCU as of this writing).
Saturday's game will most certainly decided by Air Force's rushing game. The Falcons average more than 291 yards per game on the ground, good for No. 2 in the country. TCU, as usual, leads college football in run defense, allowing just 47 yards per game – last week the Frogs held SMU to minus-17 on the ground. If Air Force has to throw, this game could be a blowout. Falcons QB Tim Jefferson has thrown for a high of 125 yards this season and is coming off a loss at Navy where he was 6-for-14 for 57 yards and an interception. Needless to say, the Navy defense is not in the league of TCU's unit.
On offense, TCU is simply much too well-balanced for Air Force. QB Andy Dalton is completing more than 68 percent of his attempts for more than 203 yards per game, and the Frogs have four runners (including Dalton) with more than 150 yards on the ground.

There are a few stats that could give Air Force backers hope. While TCU won 44-10 in the 2008 regular-season finale, the Frogs lost the last time they visited Colorado Springs in 2007. Also, losing to Navy last week actually bodes well for Air Force this week. Why? The Falcons have dropped seven straight to the Midshipmen, and they bounced back the next game with a win the previous six times.
However, in reality this looks like a lock TCU win when doing your football betting at Bodog. Texas Christian has beaten Air Force by an average of 32.0 points in its past three wins in the series, so that '07 game looks like a fluke. AFA has lost 11 straight games to ranked opponents and is 4-25-3 all-time against top-10 foes, with the last victory coming 13 years ago. Since 2001, when Air Force scores less than 20 points, which seems very likely Saturday, it is 1-19.
