College Football Odds: Oregon State at No. 4 USC

The Oregon State Beavers ruined Southern Cal’s national title hopes last year with an upset, and a similar showing on Saturday in L.A. would do exactly the same thing. But the Trojans are 21-point favorites on Bodog’s college football odds.

Another upset for OSU seems unlikely considering the Beavers have lost 21 consecutive games at USC. But also consider this when making those football bets: Earlier this season, Oregon State ended an 18-game losing streak at Arizona State.

Some might call this a "sandwich" game for the Trojans, as it comes following last week’s rivalry game with Notre Dame and precedes next week’s huge rivalry game with Oregon. But it’s hard to imagine USC overlooking an OSU team because of these reasons: The Beavers have won two of the past three in the series; they have won five of their past 10 overall against ranked teams; they have won their past seven coming off a bye week; and OSU has won five consecutive road games, the longest current streak of any team in the conference.

Be assured that OSU running back Jacquizz Rodgers is a marked man Saturday. Last year he burst onto the national scene with 186 yards rushing and two touchdowns in the USC upset. Rodgers is averaging 116 on the ground this season, ninth in the nation, and is coming off a game at Stanford where he had 189 yards rushing and four touchdowns. He is second in the nation with 13 TDs overall.

Certainly one concern for OSU when it does pass is protecting QB Sean Canfield. OSU is No. 110 in the nation in allowing sacks, while USC is tops in the nation, averaging 4.33 per game.

This game is at night, which bodes well for USC when looking at the college football odds on this one. The Trojans have won 29 straight home night games.
