The Ohio State Buckeyes say they’ll make the most of their second chance at a national title when they play LSU is the BCS Championship on Jan. 7.

After being routed by Florida in the championship last season and making it back this year for a second chance, coach Jim Tressel's team has its eye on the prize.

‘‘Everybody has a business-like mentality,’’ cornerback Malcolm Jenkins told the Ohio Tribute Chronicle. ‘‘Last year, it was kind of like we were in a bowl game, having fun and going back to Arizona. This year, it’s business. Everybody is serious about what we’re doing. Everybody is working hard. I think we’re focused on what we’re doing.”

The Buckeyes were in seventh place in the standings after an unthinkable home loss to Illinois yet clawed their way back after a series of other upsets around the league. How they got to the championship again isn’t important to OSU. They say this is about making the most of the opportunity now.

“It’s an opportunity to go back and redeem ourselves when the rest of the country says we shouldn’t be there,” defensive tackle Todd Denlinger said. “We can show what Ohio State football is all about.”
