College Football Preview: Utah Utes

The Utah Utes (10-3 last year) are gunning for a BCS Bowl berth. They have 100/1 odds to win the National Championship, and they should be a very tough squad this season. Here is their college football preview.

If a serious run is in store, Utah needs to fix a few leaks on defense. The linebacking corps will have three new starters on the field, and the Utes could start a true freshman (Damian Payne) at safety. That said, the line rotation should be excellent, and good defensive play always starts up front.

Utah might have an emerging star in Jordan Wynn. The sophomore quarterback showed heaps of potential when he took over the last eight games of 2009; if Utah can replace top receiver Davis Reed, the passing game should thrive. The running game most certainly will—Matt Asiata and Eddie Wide might be the best 1-2 punch in the conference.
