The Chicago Cubs have dropped into second place in the National League Central Sunday after losing 10-5 to the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Cubs had spent the last 24 days in first place.

Cubs’ starter Steve Trachsel was roughed up in the victory, and his meltdown made a winner out of Matt Morris who pitched six innings, allowing four runs and seven hits while striking out two and walking two.

Trachsel allowed six runs in the bottom half of the second, the biggest of these coming from Freddy Sanchez, who hit a bases-loaded triple to give the Pirates a 6-2 lead.

The Cubs will host third-place St. Louis on Monday in a makeup of a contest previously rained out. They then travels to Houston for three-games starting Tuesday before playing the Cardinals on the road for a four-game series beginning Friday.
