In his first game back from a mild rotator cuff injury, Boston starter Daisuke Matsuzaka was lit up and destroyed by a surging St. Louis Cardinals squad on Saturday afternoon.

For the second time in as many days, the Cards erupted for three home runs at the expense of a number of Sox pitchers, predominantly Matsuzaka.

Dice K lasted just one inning, giving up four runs and loading the bases for four more, before being yanked prior to the first out in the second inning.

With the bases loaded at the time of the pitching change, relief pitcher Chris Smith had his work cut out for him and couldn't escape from a dangerous situation.

Extending the lead from 4-0 to 8-0, Troy Glaus grand slammed for his tenth home run of the season, joining Aaron Miles and Rick Ankiell as one of the three St. Louis players to go yard.

Cards right-hander Mitchell Boggs was credited for the win after giving up just three runs in 5.1 innings of work.

Elsewhere in the MLB, Cleveland Indians ace CC Sabathia hit his second career home run as his club defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 7-2 in 11 innings.

The Chicago Cubs dominated their cross town rival White Sox scoring early and often against Sox pitcher Jose Contreras finishing on top 11-7.
