Duke Beats Butler 61-59 to Claim National Championship

Talk about intense. Talk about close. Give credit to Butler for taking Duke to the wire with this one, but in the end the Blue Devils won over the Bulldogs by a mere two points.

Kyle Singler scored 19 points and Brian Zoubek put in a rebound with 3.6 seconds remaining, and just like that Duke sank Butler's hopes of taking the NCAA Tournament title.

"First of all, it was a great basketball game. I want to congratulate an amazing Butler team and their fans,'' said Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski. "Fabulous year. We played a great game, they played a great game. It's hard for me to say it, to imagine that we're the national champions."

At no point during the championship game did either team lead by more than six points. Two points. That is what separated these two teams at the best of times.
